Course Description

Dental hygiene and good oral health can help and prevent gum disease or tooth decay and are therefore playing an important role in the Dental health education. As an oral health educator,  you are responsible for informing patients about the importance and benefits of regular and correct oral healthcare. You will also teach them how to practice the correct oral hygiene methods and maintain healthy teeth and gums.
This course is a great opportunity to develop your career in the Dental industry. In 2018, the General Dental Council introduced the enhanced CPD scheme for all Dental professionals, including Dental Nurses.

Our postgraduate Oral Health Education Course offers a great opportunity for you to meet the required CPD training as well as an excellent career progression.
The Curriculum for the Certificate in Oral Health, approved by the NEBDN, covers skills such as being able to describe, explain, identify, and demonstrate the message of oral health to patients.
Practical Training will take place in dental practice under the supervision of a Dentist

Who is this course for:

Qualified Dental Nurses who wish to improve their knowledge and be more actively involved in the promotion of Oral Health.

Entry requirements to book this course:

Be already qualified as a Dental Nurse

Be registered with the General Dental Council

Have the support of an employing dentist to act as supervisor and validate the workplace activities for the Record of Competence

Be registered with an approved Training Provider

To achieve this qualification you will need the following:

Successful completion of NEBDN Record of Competence which includes the compilation of an experience log,

two extended case studies (one adult, one child) which the DCP has provided an OHE session for. The recommended word count for this aspect of ROE is between 2250 and 2750 words and should include an Introduction (medical/social/dental history) and detailed method (including sections such as aims and objectives from each session, evaluation, results, and any relevant photos or diagrams used, etc)

Achieve pass mark in the NEBDN final examination

This course provides 54 verifiable CPD hours.
